Meet the team
The senior team at GroupNexus has been at the forefront of the parking industry for over two decades, driving improvements and innovation. You can therefore be confident that when you partner with us, you will be working with the best and most experienced team in the parking industry.
As a co-founder of the business, Ian has seen the company grow from a start-up, to one of the leading car park management companies in the UK employing over 450 people with over 1,200 sites under management.
As Operations Director Ian is particularly proud of the company’s staff retention rate and even prouder of the fact that his top-level management team of Operations Managers have all been promoted from within. He believes this shows the value the company has derived from its investment in training and personal development.
Although the industry has changed dramatically since Ian began his career in 1991, he is key to ensuring that the values that helped the company grow, such as a quality service and putting the customer first, are maintained through the training programs, processes and company ethos.
Ellis co-founded the business, together with Ian Langdon and Max Green, his late Father, in 1991. Its founding expertise was providing Parking Management for the National Health Service, which at the time was a free-for-all – in both senses. The customer centric service the company provided to the NHS has guided the business ethos ever since.
Ellis believes that success has come from listening to our clients and understanding their particular needs – even within the NHS and GroupNexus’ many Hospital/ Healthcare clients, none are the same, each Hospital and Hospital Trust requires something slightly different.
Over the last 30 years, Ellis has been truly amazed and inspired by watching and working with a group of people who are equally passionate about GroupNexus and delivering the future of parking.
It gives Ellis a huge sense of satisfaction that so many of the team have grown with the Company and that the business has moved from a sole focus on the NHS to a myriad of other client sectors, whilst also enhancing the services offered.
Seeing the world and technology moving faster than ever, and the change this brings to the industry, Ellis wanted to ensure that GroupNexus were not only ahead of the game but driving the changes – able to offer deeper and relevant technological opportunities to clients alongside traditional services.
It is testament to Ellis that after 30 years, GroupNexus is still growing, and he plans to help continue this growth far into the future.
Elli joined Ranger Services in 2004 shortly after its inception; and was appointed as CEO in 2012/13. The exponential growth in the business during his time as CEO led to the acquisition of the company by CP Plus in 2015.
Elli completed a diploma in humanistic counselling; and achieved an MBA with merit from Imperial College London, both of which underpin his commitment and ability to grow a business whilst maintaining the core values that put staff and customer needs at the heart of the vision.
Elli was closely involved in the integration of Ranger and CP Plus into GroupNexus, seeing the companies grow into one of the largest and most profitable car parking businesses in the UK. He has been at the forefront of market-leading innovation, introducing and launching new products and services that have now become the de facto standards across the car parking industry, including both patented and award-winning solutions.
Grahame joined CP Plus in 1995. Coming from a small business background his ‘hands on’, service orientated approach fitted in perfectly with the business outlook.
Charged with the responsibility of breathing new life into the company’s development and marketing activities, he has continued innovating its products and services ever since.
Grahame has been instrumental in the creation of GroupNexus, from a company that managed 28 sites when he joined to its current portfolio of over 1,200.
Realising that the future will be technology focused and being curious about where this would take business, Grahame has been the driving force in moving the company’s IT infrastructure and services into the 21st century.
Under his direction, the business constantly looks to innovate and review its services and as such has widened its portfolio. GroupNexus now offers a range of non-core services to clients, such as security and facilities management.
Grahame is a Board Member of the British Parking Association, regularly speaking at industry events and inputting into the new Parking (Code of Practice) Act.
Tamsin joined the Board of CP Plus (now T/A GroupNexus) in April 2010, helping to take the business to the next stage in its development. Having completed her Chartered Accountancy training with Ernst & Young in London in 1994, Tamsin worked across a number of business sectors including Oil, Insurance, Defence and Telecoms, enjoying exposure to clients facing change and challenges.
With her practical and solutions-based approach, Tamsin decided that her interests lay in assisting companies to grow and manage transformation. After leaving Ernst & Young, she went on to work with SMEs, working her way up to Finance Director. During this time, Tamsin’s focus was on implementing new business practices and introducing meaningful and timely management information, to enable companies to make informed decisions. Having gone through a turnaround with one company, she decided to focus specifically on this area and set-up her own consultancy which worked with SMEs in periods of change and/or crisis.
In her consultancy she has worked with a wide range of businesses, including advertising agencies, brand consultancies, events management, and a small investment fund. Tamsin carried out projects such as valuing businesses, due diligence, setting-up financial systems, staff training and turnarounds.
With a background in engineering, Gavin turned his hand to car parking in 1999 when he joined CP Plus’s Development Team.
Gavin and his team guide potential clients through the process of selecting a parking scheme and offer specialist advice to ensure that the best possible solution is selected. With a commercial focus to maximise efficiency of parking spaces and a service ethos to improve the customer experience.
Using a consultative approach, Gavin has been instrumental in taking the business into new sectors and environments and manages a large number of client relationships which have been key to maintaining the firm’s stability and growth.
With a genuine interest in parking technologies and innovation, Gavin has developed systems in conjunction with equipment and solution providers to deal with unique and sometimes quirky parking scenarios.
Some say that car parking is not ‘rocket science’, however Gavin insists that his Quantum Leap from engineering to car park management is set to change that.
