Every month our Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras read 30 million Number Plates.
This data is further enhanced with Vehicle and demographic data that provide insights into both parking and customer behaviour.
We use this data to provide our clients with real-time updates as well as bespoke reports.
When we looked back at the 2022 data across our 1,200 sites, we found some interesting market trends.
Our clients often ask us how many EV bays are required within their car parks.
We use site visit data to understand actual EV usage, and the rate of increase, to project EV needs for each site.
In depth analysis of short-dwell EV visits at peak times has also helped our clients to gauge whether the number of EV bays are meeting demand.
Looking at the data for all cars that had been purchased within the last 3 years (in Q4, 2022), we found that 7.6% of these cars were electric – a 2.4 ppt year on year increase. By contrast, the percentage of cars that were Diesel fell by 4.9% ppts.
Analysing EV penetration by the age of the vehicle is a useful tool to help to predict future EV demand, which in turn helps our clients to ensure they are providing the necessary provision for their customers.
Interestingly when we looked at sites with Ultra Rapid Chargers (URC), we found that they were attracting between 3 & 4 times as many EV customers compared to sites without URC.
These sites are attracting incremental EV drivers and therefore additional overall footfall. And from a demographic who are likely to have higher disposable income – a highly desirable group to attract to your sites.
Worth factoring in when considering the inclusion of URC.
Our data enables our clients to understand the carbon footprint of vehicles visiting their sites.
Utilising mobile phone data to understand the average length of a customer journey, and reviewing this alongside the CO2 emissions of each vehicle, we’re able to provide a CO2 figure that can be factored into carbon offsetting for a true net zero outcome.
This can even be funded through an optional surcharge to existing parking tariffs.
Parking data can reveal demographic insights about your customers.
Looking at our 2022 data, we found that overall large family cars stayed onsite for 7% longer than other vehicles.
Demographic insights help our clients to align tenants & offers with their customer segments, in order to build stronger relationships with their customers.
